Book Arts Open Day 2012
Book Arts Open Day 2012
Book Arts Open Day 2012
Despite the regular heavy showers, the Open Day was a great success. Over 100 people came and everybody seemed very enthusiastic about the demonstrations and the meeting of like minds - from the youngest (who must have been less than one) to the eldest (who was - well, let’s just say over eighty).
There was lots to do - demonstrations of hot metal casting, letterpress and hand printing, sewing books, marbling and bookbinding, as well as storytelling workshops and exhibitions of book illustration, books, cards and marbling, and of course a tour of the garden. With all that going on, it’s not surprising that our conservatory tea room, with cakes and sandwiches to restore energy, was well attended.
Our thanks go to everyone who came to visit us on this inaugural, rather wet, event, and especially to everyone who helped to make it the day it was:
Christopher and Marion Rowlatt (binding and sewing)
George and Jess Miller (casting and printing)
Ken Burnley (printing)
Gerard O’Shea (casting)
Kris Betterton (marbling)
Elizabeth Willow (printing)
Pam Bowen (painter)
John Shakell (illustrator)
Fran O’Boyle (storyteller)
Connie, Jess, Lana and Mabli
(tea and information)
Thank you all.
Jon and Rose Ward-Allen
