The Grange Ellesmere

Book Arts Open Day

Saturday June 29th

11am - 5pm

A great day out for anyone with a passion for books. Come and visit our Books Arts Centre and find out how beautiful books are made - the traditional way. There will be demonstrations of:

  1. -letterpress printing

  2. -hot metal casting

  3. -book sewing

  4. -paper marbling

  5. -bookbinding

  6. -calligraphy

  7. -book illustration

And opportunities to talk to the skilled craftsmen and women who practise these arts.

If the weather is good we hope you will stay for a cup of tea and cake, and have a wander round the beautiful gardens and meadow- and woodland of the Grange.

Refreshments will be available in our conservatory tea room and you can also find out about the courses and retreats that we run at the Grange.

The Open Day is supported by the Presteigne Bindery, the Silver Birch Press, the Hedge Sparrow Press, Gregynog Press and the Medlar Press.

If you are visiting from outside the area you may like to consider spending a day in and around Ellesmere. The mere is beautiful and there are some interesting shops and places to eat in the town. Visit the Ellesmere website for further details.

There is limited availability for parking at the house. There are car parks in Ellesmere, about a five-minute walk away. Car parking in Ellesmere is charged at 10p for two hours. (We would prefer to keep parking at the house for those demonstrating and for those with limited mobility.)

If you would like further information about the day please don’t hesitate to call us on: 01691 623495. (Or look at the blog for details of last year’s Open Day.)
