Your accommodation and meals

Our rooms will be made up with bed linen, and towels are provided. Most of the 13 rooms have en-suite bathrooms and we will let you know if, for one of the larger groups, they have all been taken. Each room has a tray with a kettle and teas and coffee. We don’t come into your room while you are here but if you need anything you must let us know. (For your safety and that of fellow guests, we ask everyone to ensure that candles and / or incense are not burned in the rooms.)

Meals are home-cooked and we are often praised for the quality of our food. We enjoy good food ourselves so always strive to provide the best for our guests, using home grown and local supplies as much as possible. We try to accommodate the requirements of each course staying with us and can cater for special diets. However, please be aware that there is a significant amount of extra work involved in providing special meals - we are very happy to do this when it is medically required but if it is not something you stick to rigidly please think carefully before asking us. Soya milk and rice cakes, however, can easily be provided for those that request them. Please let us know well in advance if you are a vegetarian and/or have an allergy.

The Grange has a residential licence and a house wine by the glass can be purchased with your meal. Free WiFi is available in parts of the house.

Location

The Grange is just outside the pretty market town of Ellesmere, renowned for its beautiful mere (lake) and canal. A five minute walk takes you into the town or to the mere. Further afield are the towns of Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Chester - all of which can make an interesting excursion. And of course the beautiful Welsh borderlands are very close at hand (approximately 10 miles away).

For places to visit from the Grange please see our links page.

How to get to the Grange

The Grange is only 17 miles north-west of Shrewsbury. From the roundabout in the centre of Ellesmere take the A528 (signposted to Wrexham). The Grange is 500 yards on the right.

The nearest rail stations are Shrewsbury (17 miles - with buses to Ellesmere during weekdays) or, with less flexibility in train times, Gobowen (8 miles). If you are coming to one of our courses by train, please phone us in advance to discuss your travel arrangements - some routes are better than others and we can advise.

There are some local bus services - 0870 6082608 - and taxis - 01691 622761 (Ellesmere), 01691 652000 (Gobowen) or 01743 344444 (Shrewsbury)
